The Music of Yolande's Life: A Piano Teacher's Perspective
Yolande grew up with a love of music and began playing the piano at the age of three. She later studied music in college and graduate school, but her passion has always been teaching others how to express their emotions through music, whether it’s learning how to play their favourite songs or composing new music from scratch. In this article, she talks about the role of music in her life and why she loves it so much.
Yolande's musical journey
I started learning piano when I was eight and got my first teaching job at twelve. I loved the way piano made me feel, and it was an easy decision for me to make music my life's work.
I began teaching private piano lessons in 2001, but I've also taught at universities and other institutions. The majority of my experience is working one-on-one with students to help them build a love for music that lasts a lifetime.
The importance of music education
Music is an important part of our lives, whether we are creating it or simply enjoying it. One way to enjoy music on a daily basis is through piano lessons. Whether you want to learn how to play for your own enjoyment or as a hobby, private piano lessons can provide the opportunity for a lifetime of joy and learning. I have been teaching piano lessons in my studio since 2001, and have seen first-hand the positive impact that music education has had on my students' lives.
The benefits of learning piano
Music has always been a big part of my life. I began playing the piano at age five and was fortunate to have the support of an awesome piano teacher. When I started teaching in 2001, I loved being able to share my love for music with others. With so many opportunities for private lessons, it can be difficult to choose a teacher, so I wanted to share with you some reasons why learning from me is a great decision.
The joys of teaching piano
It is with such joy that I share my love of music and all things piano with the young and old alike. I have been teaching piano lessons in London for over 10 years, teaching both beginners to advanced levels. I teach privately at my studio in central London or online via Skype or FaceTime. I also teach kids at local schools, in a program called Young Composers where kids learn about composing music and then perform their compositions for an audience.
Sharing the gift of music
Yolande has always felt a deep connection with the piano and believes it is her duty to share her love of all types of music with others. She currently teaches piano lessons in a private piano studio in London. Her students come from all ages and levels, but she primarily focuses on teaching beginners and those who are just starting out. When she started her studio, she quickly learned that there was a need for beginner-friendly piano instruction.
